Masters Trophy
At the 2011 AGM the South Australia Association tabled the idea of creating a Masters division at the 2011-12 Australian Championships, This issue was discussed at the meeting and the below is a transcript form the minutes.
- Gillian supports the South Australian Association’s intent to offer a Masters Trophy which rewards the best performance by the oldest crew defined by combining the ages of the boats crew. The suggested age is 120 years but Geoff indicates that this age group is flexible depending on entrants.
- Gillian also points out that the State Association running the Australian Championship right to offer any special trophies or categories they wish.
- Norm Thompson (NSW) indicates that the idea of a perpetual trophy for this category is problematic as it is difficult to keep track of the perpetual trophies we already have and there is added cost in keeping them maintained. There is also an issue about whether it could be awarded at all Australian Events.
- Gillian also reminded us that there was a Family boat perpetual trophy that was never recovered and can be seen as a finical loss the association.
