Boat Specifications
The Hartley TS 16 is designed by a New Zealand boat designer named Hartley who realised in the early 1960s that there was no adult size sailing boat that could be trailered off the water. So, Hartley looked at a number of designs in New Zealand and found a very seaworthy mullet fishing which was used on coastal waters.
Hartley redesigned the boat with a similar proven hull shape and designed it specifically to fit in the suburban garage making it with a beam of 2.2 m and the length of around five meters. The open cockpit is perfect for a small family and under the cabin there was enough room for two adults and two children to sleep.
Since then it has become very popular day sailor that has been built all over the world with over 1600 boats being registered in Australia alone.
